Where we are …
Leave a commentIn 2008, we moved from the safety and security of Manhattan’s lower east side to the wilds of Norwalk, Conn. This is the house we found, pictured here from an earlier time. It remains largely the same, but for the 2-car garage and vinyl siding. I commute by train daily into New York City. This website is intended to be a chronicle of life in the ‘burbs. We are inspired by and indebted to John Cheever, that great historian of early-American railway suburbia.
Connecticut is popularly called “the Nutmeg State”, although its official nickname is “the Constitution State.” As opposed to “Constituents” or “Constituters”, or “Connecticutians” or “Connectikites”, people from Connecticut are often charmingly called “Nutmeggers“. This has been the source of some controversy over the years. I have no issue with the moniker.
